About Wasatch Community Gardens

Who We Are

Wasatch Community Gardens is a community-based nonprofit that has served the Salt Lake County community for 20 years. Since our founding in 1989, we have provided opportunities for individuals to grow their own food in urban gardens. We also provide educational opportunities to youth and adults.

Mission

It is our mission to empower people of all ages and incomes to grow and eat healthy, organic, local food.

Brief History

Our Community Gardening and Education Program began as part of the Fish & Garden Project of Crossroads Urban Center, later becoming Wasatch Community Gardens in 1989. The project that began with just a handful of dedicated supporters is a vital, award-winning organization today. The generous, ongoing support we receive from our donors and volunteers allows us to bring gardening education and opportunities to over 4,500 people in our community each year! Our five community gardens are places of pride and beauty for everyone to enjoy, and contribute to stronger, healthier, and safer communities for everyone.
