- An excerpt from the article: "Executive Director Claire Uno and her four-member staff offer free gardening classes that 'educate young and old alike to the pleasures of gardening, the making of compost, the value of manure in the soil.' The non-profit, which will turn 20 years old in 2009, also operates four community gardens in the Salt Lake valley and helps other communities start their own plots. These small parcels of dirt provide dozens of Utahns a chance to grow their own fruits, vegetable and herbs, while serving as a cool oasis in Salt Lake City's urban heat."

In addition, we were able to see from their application that the garden program will be sustained for years to come."
