COMMUNITY/CONSTITUENTS

Goal One: Help local communities develop and sustain gardens

Objective 1: Work with local government to develop community gardens
Objective 2: Work with other community based organizations to develop gardens
Objective 3: Determine how to SUSTAIN new and existing community gardens
Objective 4: Develop a plan to prioritize on which communities to focus

Goal Two: Provide more garden space

Objective 1: Reduce and address waiting list

Goal Three: Build network of people engaged in local food

Objective 1: Educate people about growing and preparing food
Objective 2: Facilitate efficient sharing of food within communities and with food pantries
Objective 3: Connect land owners to prospective gardeners

Goal Four: Continue and expand educational programs

Objective 1: Give youth positive growing and eating experiences
Objective 2: Refine youth gardening program
Objective 3: Continue to pilot school gardening program
Objective 5: Articulate and develop plan for (expanded) adult education

INFRASTRUCTURE

Goal One: Invest in staff

Objective 1: Increase staff retention
Objective 2: Increase the number of paid full‐time employees and develop a phased plan for staff growth

Goal Two: Strengthen volunteer program

Objective 1: Develop plan to utilize interns, VISTAs and AmeriCorps effectively
Objective 2: Provide enhanced opportunities for volunteers to support WCG

Goal Three: Attract, retain and engage people to serve on the board

Objective 1: Clarify board structure, including rules and responsibilities
Objective 2: Sustain minimum number of board members
Objective 3: Develop and provide more detailed orientation for new board members

Goal One: Ensure budget growth to support and maintain staff and program expansion

Objective 1: Set targets for fiscal growth
Objective 2: Diversify income sources (more earned income)
