Chicken Week 2011

Thank you to our 2011 Chicken Week Sponsors!

June 18th - June 25th is Wasatch Community Gardens' Chicken Week. Chicken Week is an opportunity for Wasatch Community Gardens and the Salt Lake City community to celebrate the joy of urban "eggriculture." Sign-up for multiple chicken week events for a week of fun, or come to one or both of the tours to see chicken keeping in action. There are discounts available for signing up for both tours.

Chickens, Ducks, Turkeys and Fowl! (urban fowl keeping workshop)
Wednesday, June 22nd, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Grateful Tomato Garden, 800 S 600 E. Cost is $10; scholarships available; registration required.

Learn all you need to know to be successful at keeping backyard fowl of all kinds. And, thanks to Sam Weller's Bookstore, you will get a chance to meet author/workshop presenter Chris Gleason. Chris will be signing copies of his book "The Art of the Chicken Coop," which will be available for purchase for $10.

There will be an opportunity drawing to win all sorts of fabulous prizes donated by local businesses, including CMC Xeric, Cyprus Credit Union, Eggs in the City, Gleason Woodworking Studio, Harmons, King's English Bookshop, Meditrina, Ruby Snap, and Takashi. There will also be chicken t-shirts designed by Trent Call available for purchase.

6th Annual Tour de Coops, Saturday, June 25th, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.
Self-guided tours of backyard coops north of 2700 South.
Tour de Coops is a self-guided tour of some of the coolest urban chicken coops throughout Salt Lake City.
