I. Basic Watering with Drip

a. Drip is water specific; it gets water where it is needed at the root zone
b. Less weeds, less competition in your garden for food and water
c. Saves water /less evaporation / not affected by wind
d. Less fungus/mold because plants are not wet, just roots
e. In turn it will not start seeds, no starch breakdown
 
 
II. Garden

a. In line tubing, plants in a row
b. Individual emitters at base of each plant
 
 
III. Trees and Shrubs

a. Tree rings – at the root ball and 1’ out to encourage growth
b. Shrubs – in grids or individual emitters
 
 
IV. Equipment

a. Inline tubing vs. individual emitters
b. Valve
c. Filter
d. Pressure regulator
e. Timer
f. Hook up to sprinkler system, hose bib
 
 
V. How Long to Water?
a.  1” a week ?
