Raita Dipping Sauce

Season: Spring/Summer
Produce: Cucumbers, tomatoes and onions
Preparation: 10 min, easy

Ingredients:
2 cups plain yogurt
1 cucumber, peeled and diced
1 sweet onion, diced
2 tomatoes, diced
Hot peppers, diced, to taste
Salt, to taste

Directions: Mix the yogurt and the vegetables together in a bowl and add enough salt to the mixture to change the taste of the yogurt from sour to salty. This dish can be served with basmati rice, as a bread or chip dip, or as a side dish.

Nutrition: Choosing low-fat or non-fat yogurt can reduce the fat content of the dish. Substituting greek yogurt in this recipe is a great way to substitute regular yogurt for a lower-fat version that tastes great and has more protein.

Background: Raita is a south Asian/Indian condiment, which is similar to the Greek tzatziki.
