Youth Programs

Our award winning Youth Programs connect urban youth in the Salt Lake Valley with fresh, local food and community through hands-on, outdoor learning in our youth gardens.

Wasatch Community Gardens serves over 1,300 urban youth, ages 3-18, in our Youth Programs each year. City Roots Youth Gardening Classes, City Sprouts Summer Camps, Growing Greens Field Trips, and the Junior Farmers program take place at two of our teaching gardens, the Fairpark Garden and the Grateful Tomato Garden.

2011 Program Highlights:

  • 1,350 youth participants learned how to grow, harvest, prepare, and eat fresh, organic food in our youth gardens

  • 3,578 pounds of produce were harvested from the youth gardens, which was given to students, their families, and our local food pantries

  • 20 partner agencies brought youth participants to the gardens

If you have any questions about our Youth Programs, or would like to bring youth from your organization to our gardens, email Julie Rabb or call 801-359-2658 x14.
