Growing Greens

Growing Greens is a two-hour field trip program designed to meet the standards and objectives of the Utah State Core Curriculum for grades 3-6, focusing on nutrition and gardening.

In 2013, field trips will run weekdays from April 8th through May 29th and again from September 3rd through November 1st (prior registration required). All classes are held rain or shine and are led by Wasatch Community Gardens' staff members and our expert volunteers.

Fee structure:

  • Title 1 schools:  Free of charge in 2013
  • Public and charter schools:   $1.50 per student
  • Private and home school groups:  $3.00 per student

Field trip size is limited to 35 students, and 1 adult is required for every 10 students.  Additional chaperones may enter free of charge, but chaperones may not bring additional siblings. Reservations are required for all school groups. Complete the online application to begin the reservation process.  Limited bussing reimbursement may be available to Title 1 schools.

Please note that a brief pre-visit classroom activity is required before the field trip. The purpose of the activity is to help connect classroom learning with the Growing Greens experience and to help us assess the effectivness of our curriculum.

Thank you to The Horner Foundation for its generous support of this program!
