2020 Getting Funky with Fungi: DIY Mushroom Cultivation with Katie Lawson

Registration is closed for this event
Fungi play critical roles in both wild ecosystems and in our gardens. They are the great communicators of nature, powerhouse chemists, and our strongest decomposers. Despite their importance, fungi tend to be misunderstood, overlooked, or even demonized. Join us for a crash course in mycology and learn about many of the wonderful things that fungi do. We will explore the history of human-fungal relationships, talk about the ways we can work with fungi today, and build on our understanding of the role of fungi in forests and gardens. In addition to this foundational overview, we will learn oyster mushroom cultivation that is suited for our dry climate, watch a kit making demonstration, share cooking tips, and come to appreciate the fungi on a whole new level.
