2016 Winter Gardening: Garlic, Cover Crops & Low Tunnels

Registration is closed for this event

In the morning session (separate registration required), workshop students will be tearing down spent summer crops and preparing the garden soil for winter.  Join us for this afternoon session where we will plant some garlic, discuss different types of cover crops and actually inoculate and sow some cover crop in the demo garden, and then install a simple, double-layered low tunnel hoophouse on one of the raised demo garden beds.  Different types of low-tunnel construction will be discussed, and students will be able to examine several examples of hoop houses already set up in the garden.  Everyone will go home with a bit of cover crop seed to try in their home garden!
