Founder of the Wild Bee Project, Laura Horn provides a wealth of information in this workshop about pollinating bees that do not live in honeybee hives, such as bumblebees, carpenter bees, mason bees, squash bees, sweat bees, green metallic bees, and leafcutter bees. These fascinating bees can be excellent pollinators, and the more we understand about their nesting practices and food sources, the better able we are as gardeners to take advantage of their services. Laura will familiarize us with some of the more common native bees and teach us what to plant to maximize their presence in our gardens. Students will go home with a comprehensive list of flowers, herbs and other plants that provide food and habitat for native bees.
