Summer In A Jar Canning Series: Relish Your Garden

Description

Summer In A Jar Canning Series is co-sponsored by Wasatch Community Gardens, Urban Food Connections of Utah, & Slow Food Utah, hosted at Harmon’s City. Learn to preserve your fresh produce.

Ah, just imagine taking an invigorating whiff of some pickled pepper relish in the middle of next winter! What is relish, you might ask? Well, it's a super versatile and beautiful condiment that can be made from lots of different kinds of veggies and/or fruits and is used to jazz up your meals, adding color, nutrition and zip to meats, cheeses and more! Why wouldn't we want to make relishes together?!

Come to Harmon's City Creek and learn from the one-and-only Alison Einerson, Manager of the Downtown Farmer's Market and a canning genius, as she instructs us on the important skills of preserving summer gems like cucumbers, carrots, zucchini and more using a water bath canning technique.

Each student will take home the working knowledge to make pickled relishes, along with a jar of homemade goodness and some canning recipes!

Please note: No refunds are able to be given for any reason for cancellations received within 48 hours of the class
