Summer In A Jar Canning Series: Tomatoes Redux

Description

Summer In A Jar Canning Series is co-sponsored by Wasatch Community Gardens, Urban Food Connections of Utah, & Slow Food Utah, hosted at Harmon’s City. Learn to preserve your fresh produce.

Is there anything better from the garden than a just-picked, juicy tomato? Well, in the middle of winter, you're going to pat yourself on the back for having learned how to preserve these gems in the form of salsas and super versatile chili sauces. Talk about taking your tomato harvest to a whole new level!

Come to Harmon's City Creek from 6 to 9pm on September 20th and let Alison Einerson, the Manager of the Downtown Farmer's Market and a canning genius, show you how it's done. She'll be teaching tomato preservation recipes using a water bath canning technique so that you can preserve your own tomatoes (or grab some from the farmer's market before they're gone!) for winter indulgences.  Your volunteer assistants are USU Extension Master Food Preservers, so you've got a great team to assist you!

Each student will get to take home the working knowledge required to can independently, along with a jar of homemade goodness and some recipes!

Please note: No refunds are able to be given for any reason for cancellations received within 48 hours of the class.
