Description
This brand new workshop is a unique opportunity to dig a little deeper into the world of permaculture with Moshe Rona, a person who truly embodies permaculture principles in every aspect of his humble and sustainable life. Moshe has studied permaculture in Australia directly with Geoff Lawton, has his Permaculture Design Certificate (i.e., he is PDC-certified) and recently taught the "Permaculture Basics" workshop for Wasatch Community Gardens, which really delved into the principles and philosophy of permaculture.
This "Permaculture in Action" workshop is meant to be a companion to the "Basics" class, but is also a stand-alone experience in which students will get to tour a private residence that has been transformed over time by a series of PDC-certified residents (Moshe, Rick Snow, and current residents Maomi and Michael Cundick) into a riveting example of urban permaculture.
The property features swales, interplanting of edible perennials and annuals, pollinator-attracting flowers and herbs, and chickens - but not just any ordinary chickens! These chickens have been trained to cross from their coop on one side of the yard to their run on the other side of the yard via an elevated "skyway" - a unique and innovative walkway that truly illustrates what permaculture principles and design can achieve when a "problem" exists and a "solution" is needed.
Permaculture enthusiasts will not want to miss this chance to visit this property and learn from Moshe about how permaculture principles and design can be incorporated into virtually any urban landscape. Current residents Maomi and Michael, who are also certified in Permaculture Design, will be on hand to answer questions and assist. Sign up now, as space will be limited in this class.
