2018 Garden Planning and Design

Grateful Tomato Garden

Starting a new veggie garden, or expanding an existing one? Don't know where to start? Join this workshop for a discussion of the important factors to consider when designing your veggie garden!

We will gather together at the Grateful Tomato Garden on Saturday, February 17th to chat about the basics of vegetable garden planning, whether you've got just one small garden bed or a whole backyard to grow in.  Learn about topics such as bed location and orientation, access, pathways, and various gardening methods such as inground vs. raised beds and lasagna gardening.  We'll also touch on choosing and planting warm vs. cool season crops.  Feel free to bring a sketch of your growing space so you can get feedback on your individual plans.

We'll meet in the unheated greenhouse, so be sure to wear warm layers, gloves and a hat.  Weather permitting, we'll include a tour of the Grateful Tomato Garden to illustrate some of the concepts learned in class.
