2023 Sowing Spring Crops (additional offering due to high demand)

Description

Lettuce, radishes and peas, oh my!  This is an informal, hands-on working lab in our demonstration and teaching garden beds at the new Wasatch Community Gardens' Campus.

Student in this hands-on workshop will learn the basics of planting cool season crops including assorted greens, root crops, and peas.  As we work together to read seed packets and direct sow the seeds in our beds, we'll discuss topics such as when to plant which crops, days to maturity, seed spacing, seed planting depth, and seed planting techniques such as single-row/furrow planting and wide-row/broadcast planting.  Every student will get to plant some seeds and seedlings of different crops during class.

This workshop has a limited number of spots available and is expected to sell out quickly, so please register ahead of time! Registration closes at 3pm the day before class. No walk-ins permitted the day of class.

Instructor:  Marybeth Janerich

Tuition:  $25

Discounted rates available to community gardeners with WCG or the WCG Network.

We offer a limited number of reduced-tuition scholarships for low-income individuals. If you would like to apply, please fill out and submit our scholarship application before continuing the on-line registration process.
