Wasatch Community Gardens is excited to host tours at our Campus gardens at 629 East 800 South in Salt Lake City (view our Campus map here). Our enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff offer tours at our Campus to energize your group about urban organic gardening and to offer valuable tips for growing, harvesting, and eating healthy organic food. You will explore:
- Demonstration Garden - Intensive organic production of a wide variety of warm and cool season veggies
- Edible Perennial Garden and Herb Spiral - Diverse range of berry, fruit, and other perennial crops
- Living Traditions Garden - Cultural and spiritual aspects of our connection with food
- Trial Garden - Drought-tolerant crop experiments using deficit irrigation or dry farming techniques
- Insectary - Attractive flowers and diverse habitat for beneficial insects and pollinators
- High Tunnel and Strawbale Greenhouse - Season extension and green building techniques
These tours are geared toward adults (for youth-related visits, please click here), and last approximately 90 minutes. For a group of 16 people or less, the fee is $100. Larger groups of between 16-30 people will cost an additional $5 per person, approximately. Fee discounts are available to community groups with financial need or non-profit organizations who serve historically marginalized communities.Â
The Education Program is guided by Wasatch Community Gardens' social justice mission to increase access to healthy, organic, local food for everyone. We seek not only to be better stewards of the land, but also to be better allies with historically marginalized communities, and we invite you to read our Anti-Racism Statement and our Land Acknowledgement Statement.
