Wasatch Community Gardens - Farm Incubator Group Site (FIGS)

Farm Incubator Group Site (FIGS)

In 2025, an unexpected opportunity arose when our long-time nonprofit partner, The Green Urban Lunchbox (GULB), announced its dissolution. GULB’s Small Farms Initiative programming took place on a 3-acre site in South Salt Lake that is owned by Salt Lake County. In line with our commitment to preserve productive green space, we worked with GULB and the County to transfer the lease to WCG, ensuring that the land remains dedicated to agriculture and community use. Now known as the Farm Incubator Group Site (FIGS), this site will be a cornerstone of our new Farm Incubator Program alongside WCG’s Farm Hub, currently under development.

WCG has redesigned the FIGS site to host incubator farmers who are ready to scale up their operations. Farm plots range from ⅛-½ acre in size and can be configured to accommodate between 5-12 farm businesses in a season. FIGS amenities include:

Access to municipal waterShared cold storage infrastructureShared farm tools Shared propagation spaceShared produce washing and processing spaceAccess to WCG’s Tool Library for larger equipmentCommunity of farmers working toward similar goalsRestroom (Honey Bucket)Community Fridge managed by Salt Lake Mutual Aid, which provides free access to refrigerated and pantry items for anyone who may need them.
