Description

In our "Organic Pest Management Diagnostic Working Lab," we'll take what we learned in "What's Wrong with My Veggies: Organic Pest Management Basics" to the next level, examining veggie plants in the garden that are suffering from an assortment of common garden pests and diseases.  Students will learn how to use a jeweler's loop for a closer look and will be challenged to identify and diagnose problems and to find management or treatment solutions using as assortment of resources.  Gain valuable hands-on experience and confidence in tackling everything from spider mites to early blight!

NOTE:  Our "Organic Pest Management Basics" workshop is a required pre-requisite for this diagnostic working lab.  Please do not register for this August 10th diagnostic working lab if you haven't already taken or registered for the August 3rd Organic Pest Management Basics.  Please email Marybeth at This email address is being protected from spambots. PLEASE READ:  Per WCG policy, masks are required to be indoors by all staff and visitors when the county is experiencing a high level of COVID-19 transmission.  When outdoors, masks must be worn when a distance of 6' cannot be maintained.  This class will take place outdoors, and class size will be capped at 12 to ensure that a 6' distance can be maintained throughout class, even when we break up into diagnostic teams.  We understand that it's hot in August and more challenging to wear masks outdoors.  Please bring a properly-fitting mask to class and be prepared to wear it when asked to do so by the instructors.

This workshop has a limited number of spots available and is expected to sell out.  No walk-ins permitted the day of class, so please register online ahead of time.

If heavy rain is expected, we may cancel THE DAY BEFORE the event via EMAIL, so please check your email inbox (and SPAM folder) if the weather looks iffy!

Instructors:  Marybeth Janerich and Katie Sue Mulliken
