U-Pick-It Supper: Fava Fest!

Description
Introducing our brand new U Pick It Supper Series- seasonal cooking classes that will get you comfortable with cooking fresh from the garden! This is the first U Pick It Supper workshop, where we will harvest from our Grateful Tomato Garden demonstration beds and prepare a light supper together using our new outdoor kitchen.
It's been about 60 days since we planted our cool season crops like lettuce, spinach, radishes, kohlrabi, and it's been over 90 days since the fava beans were sown in our new demonstration garden. Now it's time to gather as a small group at the Grateful Tomato Garden, harvest some of these yummy crops, and fix a light supper together.
We'll talk about what's ready for harvest in late June and particularly focus on fava beans, and then we'll do some harvesting together. Veggies grown in Marybeth's home garden will also be part of the show, as we can't grow quite enough yummies in the demo garden for a whole "fava fest!"
Once we've harvested what we need for our Fava Fest supper, we'll gather in the outdoor kitchen area to chop, rinse, slice, dice, boil, stir, and sauté, following a few simple recipes, and then we'll eat our fresh dinner together at our picnic tables under the pergola. While we will have at least one vegetarian option, we cannot guarantee that the entire U Pick It Supper menu will be vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free.
Everyone will get to take home a copy of the recipes that we prepared in class. Each U Pick It Supper throughout the summer will feature seasonal vegetables.
