The garden beds are planted, the greenhouses organized, and the front gates opened wide. We are ready to officially celebrate the Grand Opening of the Wasatch Community Gardens' Campus, and we would love for you to celebrate with us!
Join us on Saturday, June 25, any time between 11 am - 2 pm for this family-friendly event that will offer something for everyone.
- Enjoy educational garden demos led by WCG program staff. Learn to make gardening and healthy foods fun for kids. Collect tips to give your veggie garden the best chance at success this season. Visit our onsite community garden and see what makes these shared spaces so special!
- Take a self-guided tour of the Campus — Salt Lake City's newest urban agriculture hub — and enjoy a first-hand look at our insectary gardens, cover cropping and trellising techniques, herb spiral, fruit trees, edible landscaping and more!
- Learn about Campus design! Visit with GSBS Architects to learn about the evolution of the Campus and how it embodies historic preservation and adaptive reuse, as well as conservation of open space.
- Enjoy music and food. Sit a spell in the garden and listen to music provided by KRCL. Namash Swahili Cuisine food truck, from our friends at Spice Kitchen Incubator, will also be onsite if you'd like to purchase lunch during your time at Campus.
The Campus Grand Opening will take the place of our annual Urban Garden & Farm Tour this year. Come tour our new home, designed to generate enthusiasm, raise awareness and share ideas about urban agriculture!
Parking will be available along 800 South and surrounding areas. Please do not park on Green Street (directly east of Campus). We of course encourage you to walk or bike if you can! Bike racks are available along 800 South.
Wasatch Community Gardens' Campus was built by and for community. Join us on June 25 to connect with gardening, healthy food and one another, and to celebrate our new Campus. See you there!
