As a volunteer for Wasatch Community Gardens, you can help accomplish our mission of empowering people of all ages and incomes to grow and eat healthy, organic, local food. Volunteering with WCG is an opportunity to join with WCG staff and other volunteers to achieve a shared vision; gain knowledge, skills, and experience; and act as a steward of the resources with which we have all been entrusted.

School Garden Volunteer Crews

This is a great volunteer event for ANYONE that wants to get involved with Wasatch Community Gardens and experience, hands-on, our core values of Community, Sharing and Stewardship. Small but Mighty School Garden Crew

This evening bi-weekly volunteer garden crew will reconvene in September for the fall semester, rotating through three of our school gardens. 

September 20, 5.30pm - 7.30pm: Escalante Elementary

October 4, *5.30pm - 7.30pm : Mountain View Elementary

October 18, *5.30pm - 7.30pm: Riley Elementary

November 1, *5.30pm - 7.30pm: Escalante Elementary

Community Garden Work Parties

Please join our community gardeners to help with the beautification and maintenance of our community gardens, and for larger projects.  Many hands make light work! Tasks include weeding, mulching, building-up growing beds with fresh soil, and other general gardening. Check back regularly as these parties happen on an ad hoc basis.  Our next work party is:

Dancing Moose Community Garden Work Day

Dancing Moose Community Garden, a half-acre collective garden in West Valley, has a day of service on Saturday, September 23 with two volunteer shifts, 2 – 4pm and 4 – 6pm, to get it back in shape for its annual fundraiser. If you would like to help with weeding, transplanting, and some other small gardening projects please contact the garden coordinator, Nichole.

GREEN TEAM Farm

The GREEN TEAM Farm is a 1.3-acre urban farm in the heart of Salt Lake's Depot District. Nerd out with the GREEN TEAM Farm Compost Club! Learn how to make, mix, and sift this black gold, and search for nematodes and other microscopic beneficials. Tasks include compost turning, sifting, and analysis under the microscope.

GREEN TEAM Farm Lunches

Are you interested in helping out Wasatch Community Gardens in a way that doesn't involve getting dirty?
