As a volunteer for Wasatch Community Gardens, you can help accomplish our mission of empowering people of all ages and incomes to grow and eat healthy, organic, local food. Volunteering with WCG is an opportunity to join with WCG staff and other volunteers to achieve a shared vision; gain knowledge, skills, and experience; and act as a steward of the resources with which we have all been entrusted.

School Garden Crews

This is a great volunteer event for ANYONE that wants to get involved with Wasatch Community Gardens and experience, hands-on, our core values of Community, Sharing and Stewardship. Come prepared to pull weeds, harvest produce, and help keep our school gardens appealing and productive. Small but Mighty School Garden Crew

This evening bi-weekly volunteer garden crew will run through mid November, weather permitting, rotating through two of our school gardens.

Community Garden Work Parties

Please join our community gardeners to help with the beautification and maintenance of our community gardens, and for larger projects.  Many hands make light work! Tasks include weeding, mulching, building-up growing beds with fresh soil, and other general gardening. Check back regularly as these parties happen on an ad hoc basis.  Our next work party is:

We have an opportunity coming up to join Team CG as they put the community gardens to bed for the winter. Meet at Wasatch Community Gardens' office, 824 S 400 W, Ste 127, Salt Lake City 84101 at 9am and then caravan or carpool with Giles or Van to multiple gardens. GREEN TEAM Farm

The GREEN TEAM Farm is a 1.3-acre urban farm in the heart of Salt Lake's Depot District. Work alongside GREEN TEAM Farm Director James Loomis and the job trainees. Tasks include weeding, mulching, watering, and general gardening.

Nerd out with the GREEN TEAM Farm Compost Club! Learn how to make, mix, and sift this black gold, and search for nematodes and other microscopic beneficials. Tasks include compost turning, sifting, and analysis under the microscope.

Are you interested in helping out Wasatch Community Gardens in a way that doesn't involve getting dirty? The GREEN TEAM Farm, which employs women currently facing homelessness, needs help providing daily lunches to the farm crew. This is a low-key time commitment that can be done once or regularly.
