MaddieM (referred to as such because we also have a MaddieJ!) is returning for a second year as our Community Education Gardening Assistant.  Maddie proudly serves the Utah Conservation Corps as an AmeriCorps and had a wildly successful year with WCG in 2020, assisting with our adult workshops and webinars, our Facebook Live sessions, and the Spring Plant Sale Fundraiser.  Maddie also designed, planted and maintained the demonstration teaching beds at the Grateful Tomato Garden and managed our produce deliveries to Valley Plaza residents participating in our Farm Fresh Program.  Maddie graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies and Sustainability in May 2019. She is a Utah native who believes she will always call Utah home and because of this she has a deep desire to strengthen our local community through education and empowerment. Maddie continues to hone her gardening and farming skills through her efforts at the Grateful Tomato Garden and at our Green Phoenix Farm.  She has truly found a passion in growing food and is eager to keep learning all that she can while helping assist others in their gardening journey.  In her spare time you can find her cuddling her dog, reading, hiking, sketching, snowshoeing, or rollerblading.
