Christy Clay

As Internal Education Manager, Christy works with WCG staff to support their educational needs and those of program participants. At WCG’s Campus, you may also find her working with the Campus Site Manager to establish and maintain teaching garden spaces or leading a tour of the garden. Christy has many years of education experience in a variety of contexts, from working with elementary school kids along the Jordan River, to teaching college students and adults. With a PhD in ecology, she has conducted research focused on bioremediation and soil ecosystem repair, and conducted trials to make amazing compost using only urban waste materials. As a self-proclaimed nerd, Christy will never miss an opportunity to learn something new, particularly when it comes to growing more healthy food in a changing climate and increasing food access for everyone. In her free time Christy enjoys trail running and mountain biking with family and friends, adventures in the mountains and to the ocean, and finding creative ways to preserve fruits and vegetables from the garden.
