Jason Faler
Jason's family have farming roots in Plain City, Utah growing asparagus. He started to learn about gardening and growing vegetables at a young age. At his childhood home in Layton, Utah he remembers the family growing peas, corn and tomatoes. His grandparents had cherry trees and raspberries, and put him to work picking those. When living in Salt Lake City on Garden Avenue, he got his hands in the dirt growing his first garlic and tomato plants from seed.
Jason eventually found the Wasatch Community Garden in Historic Sandy. There he has met many good friends including Charlie, a now long time friend and mentor, who taught Jason more about organic gardening, seed saving, and the many different types of heirloom tomatoes. Jason has been selling produce at farmers markets for a few years now and is looking into additional ways to distribute produce in the community. Jason has learned from and also helped other community gardeners during his time at the History Sandy Community Garden.
Jason is excited to be learning and growing at the new WCG Farm Incubator Group Site (FIGS) and to be part of the Farm Incubator Program. Learning how to use the walk behind tractor and about other sustainable farming methods has been especially fun. It is a wonderful community to be a small part of.
