Group Visits
Getting youth groups into the garden is a great way to generate enthusiasm for caring for the environment, get involved in the community, and explore growing and eating healthy food. We encourage youth of all kinds to explore the Wasatch Community Gardens' Campus through a guided tour and hands-on activities led by our knowledgeable youth educators.
The workshops are each two hours long and include a garden tour, a healthy snack, and a seasonal, garden-based activity. Our group visits are offered April through October.
- We offer four different group visit programs, that can be tailored to your participants’ age levels and learning needs.
- Down in the Dirt - soil health, composting, garden ecology, recycling
- All About Bugs - insects, pollinators, biodiversity
- Garden Chefs - nutrition, health, local food systems
- Food Is Culture - emphasis on cultural significance of food and indigenous growing traditions
- We can also incorporate a service element into a group visit.
- GROUP SIZE AND COST
- Group visits are limited to 35 students. If your group is more than 35 students, you will need to book two visit sessions.
- There is a $100 fee for group visits of up to 12 students (additional $3/student fee for larger groups). If your group has concerns or questions about the fee, please contact our Youth Education Manager, Olivia Shively, at This email address is being protected from spambots. Wasatch Community Gardens' Spring Plant Sale is one of our longest standing signature events that brings our community together for access to locally grown plants and to support our mission to empower people to grow and eat healthy, organic, local food. The 2025 Spring Plant Sale is on Saturday, May 10, and we offer early access to shopping the sale the night before. Our most enthusiastic shoppers at WCG's Spring Plant Sale - those who spent $150 or more at the previous year's Spring Plant Sale - and donors who make a one-time gift of $150 or more or a "perennial" monthly gift of $10 or more, are our Pals of the Plant Sale, or PoPS! If you do not already fall into this category we invite you to join PoPS by making a donation today.
In addition to an opportunity to shop before the general public at PoPS' Night, Friday, May 9, stay tuned for special PoPS perks as a token of appreciation for your support. This will include a special event invitation and we look forward to helping you make the most of the plant sale as you prepare to grow and eat your own healthy, organic, local food! Whether you are already a member of PoPS or make a gift today, stay tuned for your invitation and more details about PoPS perks soon!

Youth Garden Club
Youth Garden Club is an enrichment program available to qualifying partnering social service agencies that work with youth ages 4-12. Our classes aim to empower youth to make healthy choices for themselves, their communities, and the environment. Through hands-on experience in growing and preparing healthy, local, organic food, youth experience the connection between the environment, food systems, and their own health. Participating youth are often able to take garden produce home to share with their families.
Current Partners:
