Date
Feb 24, 2024 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Location
Wasatch Community Gardens Campus, 629 East 800 South, Salt Lake City

Description

Give your garden tools and outdoor clothes new life before spring hits! Green Urban Lunch Box, Patagonia SLC and Wasatch Community Gardens are teaming up to offer "Tools and Spools,” a free, drop-in community event. Join us anytime between 10am - 12pm to explore creative options for revamping your old tools and clothing, and keep them out of the trash!

For tools, we will have stations for hand tool and shovel sharpening, and oiling of wooden handles. Restore your tools with hands-on coaching from Wasatch Community Gardens' staff, who will share their tool care tips and tricks while you work on your tools yourself.

For clothing, mending experts from the Green Urban Lunch Box and Patagonia will repair your outdoor clothes and work wear. From busted knees to broken zippers, their menders can give new life to your beloved garments. Sewing machines will be on site to mend your clothes, and menders will give tutorials and answer questions about the importance of repairing instead of buying new. Bring whatever clothes need a refresh, and they’ll do their best to have you out in the garden in your freshly mended fabrics this spring.

This is a FREE event, though we kindly ask that you register so we can anticipate attendance numbers. Thank you!
