In this workshop, we'll talk about what's ready to harvest in July, the specific varieties that were grown in the demo garden and why they were chosen, and a bit about how they were grown. Then we'll do some harvesting together. Veggies from Marybeth's home garden and/or the farmers market will also be part of the show, as we can't grow quite enough yummies in the demo garden for this event.
Once we've harvested what we need for our "Heart and Soul of Summer" supper, we'll gather in the outdoor kitchen area and each take a hand in chopping, rinsing, slicing, dicing, boiling, stirring, and sauteing, following a few simple recipes. Then we'll set the picnic tables and enjoy our fresh dinner together under the pergola. Everyone will get to take home a copy of the recipes that we prepared in class.
While we will have at least one vegetarian option, we cannot guarantee that the entire U-Pick-It Supper menu will be vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free. The final menu may not be determined until the day before the event, but we can promise that it will be inspirational and delicious!
