2018 SOIL BUNDLE

Registration is closed for this event

Our SOIL BUNDLE allows you to register for FOUR WORKSHOPS at a bundled (reduced) price:

  • Soil Basics with Celia Bell, Saturday, April 14th from 10-12 noon
  • Organic Fertilizers and Amendments (Working Lab), Saturday, April 14th from 2-4pm
  • Soil Biology with James Loomis, Thursday, May 17th from 6-8pm
  • Cuckoo for Cover Crops (Working Lab), Saturday, September 15th from 2-4pm

We start off with Soil Basics with Celia Bell on April 14th, and this is one of the most popular workshops we have!  Celia has decades of experience in building great soil and is a terrific and knowledgeable instructor.

We continue the series with a hands-on working lab the same afternoon, where we'll work side-by-side to calculate and then incorporate the proper amount of organic fertilizers into one of our garden beds, and we will also work in some high-quality compost to prepare the bed for planting.  On Saturday, April 21st, James Loomis will share his passion for soil biology!  He'll have his microscope at class so everyone can take a turn looking at the microscopic organisms that live in abundance in healthy, fertile soil.  We'll wrap up the series in September by learning about how cover crops can improve our soil.  Students completing this series will gain significant knowledge in how to improve their garden soil, which is crucial to having healthy and productive vegetable plants.  You will find the complete description of each of these four workshops in our on-line course catalog.
