2021 Growing Great Tomatoes: Tomato Fundamentals, Variety and Flavor

Registration is closed for this event

Calling all tomato lovers, newbie growers and seasoned gardeners alike!  This fun-filled class is designed to deliver a basic foundation in tomato cultivation and to help you increase the variety and flavor of this versatile summer favorite.

We'll learn how to "talk tomato" and decipher all the lingo on tomato plant tags, which will help you select the best varieties for your individual garden site and your cooking/eating preferences, regardless of whether you start your plants from seed or you buy seedlings.   In addition to addressing tomato terminology, we'll consider such factors as growth habit, disease resistance/susceptibility, days to maturity, yield, use and flavor profile.  We'll also discuss which factors, other than variety, affect the flavor of your tomatoes, so if you've grown "okay-tasting" tomatoes and want to up your game, this is the class for you!

Our companion class, "Growing Great Tomatoes: Cultivating for Health & Productivity" on March 17th will take things to the next level by addressing soils, planting dates, pruning, fertilizing, proper staking/caging/trellising, and identifying and troubleshooting common tomato pests and diseases.  Together, these two webinars will get you on your way to becoming a Tomato Master!

NOTE: No refunds will be issued for cancellations received within 24 hours of the class or after the reminder email has been sent out with the link to the webinar.  We offer a limited number of reduced-tuition scholarships for low-income individuals.  If you would like to apply, please fill out and submit our scholarship application before continuing the on-line registration process.
