2023 Let's Sow Fall Crops (working lab)

Registration is closed for this event

Now's the time to prepare your garden beds if you want to be harvesting fresh, healthy veggies in October, November, December and beyond! This in-person working lab will discuss the "when, where and how" of planting quick-maturing and cold-tolerant varieties of all your favorite greens and other cool season veggies.  We'll take soil temperatures to better understand summer germination of cool season crops, and practice calculating "days to maturity" using fun and rare varieties of fall vegetable seeds.

Each student will plant seeds in our teaching gardens that will produce food for our programming throughout the fall and winter months. And as an added bonus, each student will receive a selection of fall veggie seeds to take home.

Note: The content in this in-person class overlaps about 75% with the content in our on-webinar "Get Ready to Sow Fall Crops." Don't know which one to choose? The working lab is great if you want a hands-on experience in our teaching garden, while the webinar is nice if you would prefer to learn the information on your own time (and as a special bonus, the webinar will also discuss how to extend your harvest season into the dead of winter with low-tunnels, hoop houses, and cold frames). And if your budget allows, you can take both versions of the class to really solidify the concepts!
